This Privacy Policy explains how aberle-media GmbH and its affiliates ("we", "us") collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use Laurel & Hardy World — our subscription video streaming service.

We comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, APPI, and other regional frameworks where relevant.

Data We Collect

When you register, subscribe, or stream content we may process:

• Account data: name, email address, hashed password or OAuth profile ID (Google sign-in).
• Subscription & billing: plan, Stripe customer/subscription IDs, payment metadata (we never store full card numbers).
• Streaming usage: watch history, favourites, continue-watching progress, device type, approximate location from IP.
• Technical logs: anonymized IP, browser, pages visited, error logs (retained briefly for security).
• Cookies & local storage: session, locale preference, consent choices, optional analytics (see Cookie Policy).

How We Use Your Data

• Provide and personalize the streaming service (recommendations, resume playback).
• Process subscriptions and payments via Stripe.
• Send service emails (welcome, subscription status, password reset).
• Improve platform stability, security, and content discovery.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to support requests.

Legal Basis (GDPR)

Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) for accounts, streaming access, and payments.

Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement.

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for non-essential cookies and optional analytics.

Third-Party Processors

• Stripe, Inc. — subscription billing and payment processing.
• Bunny.net — video delivery (signed HLS streams).
• Vimeo / YouTube — embedded or linked preview content where applicable.
• Google LLC — OAuth sign-in and optional Google Analytics 4 (consent-based).
• Hosting provider — EU-based servers for primary data storage.

International Transfers

Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or equivalent safeguards.

We do not sell personal information.

Retention

• Account data: for the life of the account plus statutory retention (typically 6–10 years for tax records linked to payments).
• Watch history: until you delete it or close your account.
• Server logs: anonymized after 7 days.
• Analytics: up to 14 months or until consent is withdrawn.

Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent.

Security & Children

We use TLS encryption, access controls, and industry-standard security measures.

Laurel & Hardy World is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
