Ranch
Fiction House Press describes the land as once part of the Spanish land grant of Jose De Arnaz, in the Rincon de Los Bueyes section of Los Angeles, near Culver City.
In May 1923 Hal Roach bought a 10-acre ranch near the studio and shot films there on location. Marc Wanamaker, for the Culver City Historical Society, places that land at what is now Robertson Boulevard, apart from the studio lot at 8822 West Washington Boulevard, at National Boulevard.
Fiction House Press describes the same purchase as 10 acres on Arnaz Road in early 1923, about a mile from the Culver City studio.
The page cites the Los Angeles Times of 21 February 1923: the new holdings were to become the permanent home of the Our Gang company, and that unit was to be moved there within a few weeks.
The same Times report says the entire Roach menagerie was to be established on the ranch.
Wanamaker points to the Fall 2005 issue of the Culver City Historical Society for a personal account by the Moselle family of the Roach ranch.
